DESCRIPTION:Established in 2016 at Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Com
 putational Science Initiative (CSI), has secured its position among leadin
 g computer science research organizations while maintaining its “start-up”
  atmosphere of innovation and flexibility in shaping its direction. Contin
 uously growing throughout its past seven years, CSI works with a broad set
  of sponsors on a range of exciting computer science, applied math, and co
 mputational science topics. \n\nResponsible AI for use in consequential de
 cision-making applications, next-generation digital twins, and award-winni
 ng extreme-scale workflow infrastructures are only a sampling of our resea
 rch focus areas inspired by the world-leading experimental facilities foun
 d only at Brookhaven Lab. Now, we are seeking a deputy director who shares
  our commitment to excellence in science, innovation, and teamwork in mult

 site position eligible for consideration of a flexible work arrangement at
  the discretion of the Director\n\nSupport the Director of the Computation
 al Science Initiative in providing scientific leadership for the developme
 nt, implementation, and execution of CSI’s research programs.\n\nSupport t
 he Director of the Computational Science Initiative in leading computer sc
 ience and applied mathematics research for the Laboratory, including the d
 evelopment and implementation of scientific strategies to sustain national
  and international prominence, helping to ensure that CSI’s programs are m
 eeting client needs.\n\nFulfill programmatic and program manager roles for
  the Laboratory in computer science and applied mathematics research by de
 veloping research programs and strategic partnerships with other national 
 laboratories, colleges and universities, other research institutions, and 
 public and private corporations.\n\nStrengthen existing research programs,
  develop new programs, and drive strategic initiatives for the organizatio
 n. Work with the Director of the Computational Science Initiative to ident
 ify and implement strategic research opportunities, including Laboratory-D
 irected Research and Development (LDRD) priorities.\n\nMaintain compliance
  with Laboratory policies, standards, and procedures as documented in Stan
 dards-Based Management System (SBMS). Implement operational standards to m
 eet the expectations of the Laboratory Agenda.\n\nSupport the Director of 
 the Computational Science Initiative in identifying staff and other resour
 ce requirements. Support recruiting initiatives in diversity, fellowships,
  and university relations. Serve as primary contact with assigned core uni
 versity. Promote educational outreach programs.\n\nEstablish a personal re
 search program in a computer science or mathematics domain related to CSI’
 s mission.\n\n
