SUMMARY:Postdoc - Computational Science (JR100588)
DESCRIPTION:The Computational Science Initiative (CSI) at Brookhaven Natio
nal Laboratory (BNL) invites exceptional candidates to apply for a postdoc
researcher position in emerging technology and scientific computing. This
position offers a unique opportunity to develop scientific software for e
merging technology and high-performance computing (HPC) with applications
in diverse scientific domains of interest to BNL and the Department of Ene
rgy (DOE). Topics of specific interest include: (i) developing novel distr
ibuted / federated machine learning (ML) algorithms, (ii) secure computing
including blockchain, (iii) improving communication framework for edge co
mputing and HPC, and (iv) implementing analytical algorithms to improve DO
E applications on edge and HPC. The position includes access to world-clas
s HPC resources, such as the BNL Institutional Cluster and DOE leadership
computing facilities. Access to these platforms will allow computing at sc
ale and will ensure that the successful candidate will have the necessary
resources to solve challenging DOE problems of interest.\n\nEssential Duti
es and Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop scientific software\nDevelop and imple
ment ML algorithms for scientific applications\nWork in interdisciplinary
collaborations with applied domain scientists on various aspects of scient
ific data generation, processing, and analysis\nFormulate own high-quality
research ideas and directions in collaboration with mentors in the group\
nCommunicate research progress, challenges and achievements, and engage wi
thin and beyond the group on new potential collaborations\n\n
