SUMMARY:Hardware/Circuits Engineer
DESCRIPTION:Hardware/Circuits Engineer - 99439\nDivision: AM-Applied Mathe
matics and Computational Research\n\nLawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBN
L, https://www.lbl.gov/) Applied Mathematics and Computational Research Di
vision has an opening for a Hardware/Circuits Engineer to join the team.\n
\nIn this role, you will be working with the Computer Architecture group o
n analog electronics for high-speed (radio frequency) electronic circuit d
esign and also EDA tools (Cadence) to lay out circuit designs for prototyp
e computing systems for the computer architecture group. This will be impo
rtant for the design of signal transduction for quantum networking systems
and development of novel high speed superconducting circuits for the IARP
A AGILE test and evaluation.\n\nWhat you will do (if hired at a level 2):\
n• Use commercial Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to take RTL des
igns and perform synthesis and layout of those designs into GDS form.\n• E
valuate synthesized EDA designs to determine their power and area consumpt
ion.\n• Design high speed circuits (both superconducting and conventional)
for applications in quantum computing, control systems, and 5G networking
.\n• Model and evaluate high speed circuits using Spice or equivalent circ
uit analysis tools.\n• Work on and resolve problems of diverse scope where
analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. \n• Exerci
se judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for o
btaining solutions. \n• Determine methods and procedures on new assignment
s and may coordinate activities of other personnel.\n• Network with key co
ntacts outside your own area of expertise.\n\nIn addition to the above (if
hired at a level 3):\n• Lead small teams of CSEs and students to solve an
d manage projects.\n• Work on and resolve complex issues where analysis of
situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. \
n• Write technical papers and journal articles to share your research with
  the community.\n\n
