DESCRIPTION:Computer Systems Engineer 1 - 100317\nDivision: SN-Scientific 
 Networking\n\nLawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings 
 for a Computer Systems Engineer 1 in Berkeley, CA.\n\nDuties: Perform ESne
 t's incident management processes including observe alarms, manage inciden
 t tickets, send notifications, triage outages and escalate to the appropri
 ate parties when required. Act as the primary external communicator for ES
 net operational issues, including receiving requests and questions from ES
 net sites, contacting carriers and peers to report problems and communicat
 e network status to the wider ESnet community. Interface with ESnet optica
 l line system NOC. Coordinate scheduled ESnet maintenance, including perfo
 rming impact analysis and sending notifications. Facilitate remote-hands w
 ork at offsite ESnet locations, including coordinating with vendors and ma
 naging shipping and receiving of required hardware. Assist in managing ESn
 et equipment inventory. Assist with hands-on equipment work required on-si
 te at Berkeley Lab such as power-cycling equipment and replacing hardware.
  Work on and solve problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations
  or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Identify and propose o
 pportunities for process improvement and automation. Participate in a seco
 ndary engineering team as a liason to the Network Operations Center (NOC) 
 team. Represent the ESnet NOC to a secondary engineering team and the wide
 r set of ESnet staff.\n\nMay telecommute.\n\nBenefits: This full salary ra
 nge of this position is between $96,000 to $143,328 per year depending upo
 n candidates' full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, 
 certifications, and years of experience.\n\n
