SUMMARY:Senior Research Scientist
DESCRIPTION:The incumbent should be highly motivated and detail-oriented, 
 a strategic thinker, and a team player, with a demonstrated ability to sol
 ve problems and make decisions. In this role, you will:\n\nProvide Domain-
 Specific Expertise: Use and share your expertise with user engagement and 
 user-centered design to benefit projects, designing (from information glea
 ned through collaboration and engagement) organizational systems that meet
  user needs. Lead user outreach activities, including expanding underrepre
 sented community participation. Deploy innovative methods to engage commun
 ities. Provide domain and data science knowledge. Lead efforts to apply ma
 chine learning and other analytic tools to problem-solving domains.\n\nPro
 vide interdisciplinary leadership and engagement: Lead collaborative group
 s and activities. Monitor and track project milestones and deliverables. C
 onfer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems. Recognize a
 reas for internal improvement and lead the development of plans to impleme
 nt updated or new processes and methods to facilitate project outcomes.\n\
 nEngage with relevant stakeholders: Work with colleagues to develop tools 
 and methods to enhance data integration and analysis. Collaborate with sof
 tware engineers and researchers to help design analytic systems to advance
  scientific discovery. Develop and expand RENCI partnerships across the UN
 C campus, other academic institutions, government, and industry. Work with
  relevant business offices and project leadership to develop project budge
 ts. Collaborate with relevant teams to produce reports.\n\nManage Projects
  and Programs: Provide thought leadership and program management, includin
 g strategic planning, for large, collaborative project proposals, and deve
 lop the concept and teaming activities. \n\nAdd to RENCI’s knowledge base:
  Contribute to the organizational best practices library knowledge base, d
 ocumenting standards and processes and developing and facilitating staff t
 raining supporting large collaborative projects, including team science an
 d community outreach. Develop a research portfolio within an area of exper
 tise.\n\n
