 neer \nTo build upon the existing research data infrastructure in the Rese
 arch Operations Center within the Materials, Chemical, & Computational Sci
 ence (MCCS) directorate.  The mission of the MCCS directorate is to: "Enab
 le the Nation’s energy transformation by delivering world class research, 
 innovation, and scientific leadership focusing on advances in solar energy
 , renewable fuels, energy storage, reliability/durability science and comp
 utational science."  This position will support our entire portfolio of da
 ta systems and architectures such as data streaming and distributed data s
 tore platforms.\n\nThis position supports the MCCS Informatics effort that
  is responsible for: \n\n- Providing and maintain an intranet of research 
 instrumentation computers and servers for a research data network (RDN). \
 n-  Adding research equipment producing data products to the RDN. \n-  Har
 vesting data from research equipment, extracting key information, and putt
 ing the data in to a minable repository. \n-  Integrating with the MCCS Co
 mputational Science Center to implement visualization and analysis tools f
 or research. \n\nThe person in this position will: \n-  Support all the re
 sponsibilities of the MCCS Informatics activities as stated above; especia
 lly in the are expanding the RDN to equipment not on the network. \n -  Da
 ta cleanup and processing. \n-  System administration. \n-  Debug and fix 
 network issues. \n-  Work collaboratively both with laboratory and computa
 tional scientists.  \n-  Ensure informatics compliance with the software q
 uality assurance procedure. ​\n\n\nThe successful candidate will have:\n\n
 Experience programming in C++, C, Python, and SQL programming languages. \
 nExperience with deploying and maintaining PostgreSQL databases. \nExperie
 nce monitoring uptime, availability, and health and security of applicatio
 ns and database servers. \nExperience connecting and configuring Windows a
 nd Linux computers onto networks to facilitate data harvesting. \nExperien
 ce troubleshooting server and application errors to identify and resolve i
 ssues. \nExperience with software development workflows and requirements i
 ncluding code documentation, version control through Git, Agile processes,
  and FAIR principles. \n Demonstrated ability to work proactively and take
  initiative as needed in non-routine situations. \nExhibits a positive, ca
 n-do, “how can I help” attitude to help others be successful. \nAbility to
  use independent judgment to manage and prioritize a diverse workload and 
 complete assignments. \nAbility to effectively work with and communicate c
 learly with staff from diverse cultural and technical backgrounds; and wor
 k collaboratively as part of a team. \nMaintains a high degree of confiden
 tiality and professionalism regarding technical and administrative activit
 ies in an environment with sensitive and proprietary information. \nNREL i
 s looking for a dynamic, motivated team member who can collaborate and com
 municate across functional and organizational borders, presenting solution
 s to users with different levels of systems and software knowledge.\n\nThe
  successful candidate must be comfortable learning and applying new techno
 logies as well as collaborate with IT Operations and Support to develop ap
 plication management solutions at scale. Candidates should have a strong t
 echnical background, experience leading small teams and working with clien
 ts, and an interest in the mission of NREL. \n\nSuccessful applicants will
  be able to operate independently and perform technical tasks with a high 
 degree of rigor and professionalism, tackle technical challenges and engin
 eer creative solutions to application management problems, and help design
  a long-term vision for data systems architectures for the Data, Analysis,
  and Visualization group and the NREL Computational Sciences Center.\n\n
