 ation_R11469\n\n\nThe AI, Learning and Intelligent Systems (ALIS) Group in
  the NREL Computational Science Center has an opening for a full-time Post
 doctoral Researcher in the field of Bayesian optimization and surrogate mo
 deling. We are looking for a dynamic researcher with a strong technical ba
 ckground in statistics, optimization, sampling, and algorithm development 
 for large-dimensional black-box problems to help us transform our renewabl
 e energy future through novel active learning approaches.\n\nThe successfu
 l candidate will have exposure to optimization problems arising across the
  NREL mission area; and will develop novel algorithms that are targeted at
  the various problem characteristics encountered in our applications (e.g.
 , large-scale, multi-modal, multi-fidelity, multi-physics data). \n\nWe se
 ek candidates capable of devising creative approaches that tie together ad
 vanced statistical techniques, dimension reduction, surrogate modeling and
  sampling methods to achieve improved active learning strategies for optim
 ization and uncertainty quantification. \n\nCandidates must have strong pr
 oblem-solving skills, a strong interest in cross-disciplinary collaboratio
 n, and a passion for the mission and goals of both NREL and the Office of 
 Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy.  \n\nResponsibilities:\n•    Closely
  collaborate with members from the Data Analysis and Visualization Group a
 nd ALIS Group on statistics and optimization developments.\n•    Develop m
 ultimodal surrogate models, dimension reduction, and active learning algor
 ithms to solve target applications in optimization and uncertainty quantif
 ication. \n•    Creatively identify new opportunities for the developed ap
 proaches across the NREL mission space.\n•    Author publications in top-t
 ier venues and contribute to proposals to sustain research directions.\n\n
