 tion (CSSO) Group in the NREL Computational Science Center has an opening 
 for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in Modeling, Simulation, Optimizat
 ion and Machine Learning (ML) and its application to the operation and pla
 nning of transportation systems. We are looking for a dynamic researcher w
 ith a strong technical background to help us decarbonize and improve energ
 y efficiency of transportation systems through optimization and machine le
 arning.\n\nThe successful candidate will participate in research formulati
 ng and solving optimization problems that arise in the optimal control and
  operation of transportation systems, as well as processing and analyzing 
 high-fidelity transportation data sets to formulate ML-based surrogate mod
 els useful for transportation systems planning purposes.\n\nOur focus is p
 rimarily in energy efficient planning and operation and decarbonization of
  mobility systems. We seek candidates capable of pursuing research directi
 ons that involve effective utilization of the modern parallel computing ar
 chitectures available at NREL as well as cloud-based computing resources. 
 Candidates with creative problem-solving skills, interest in cross-discipl
 inary collaboration, and a passion for the mission and goals of both NREL 
 and EERE are of particular interest.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nAdopt existin
 g – or develop new – optimization methods and machine learning methods to 
 address NREL problems in energy-efficient optimal planning, operation and 
 decarbonization of transportation systems\nModel emerging technologies in 
 transportation systems and develop high performance simulations.\nAuthor p
 ublications and contribute to proposals to sustain research directions.\n\
