 As a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science national laboratory

  modeling, simulation, and control with applications to sophisticated engi
 neered systems. This research will work towards developing novel approache
 s to apply novel concepts in systems model, analysis, and high-performance
  computing to solve difficult problems that arise when diverse technologie
 s are integrated to solve engineering problems of national interest. A spe
 cific area of interest is “smart” energy systems that integrate communicat
 ions, controls, artificial intelligence, economics, and a network of gener
 ation and load to facilitate decarbonization and improve resilience. To so
 lve these ambitious problems, we seek an interdisciplinary team that encom
 passes expertise in dynamic systems, mathematical modeling, systems engine
 ering, numerical and other simulation methods, model-based design, high pe
 rformance computing, optimization, and control. We also seek relevant, dom
 ain specific knowledge energy systems, communication systems, reliability,
  and – most importantly - the ability to work within a diverse research en
 vironment on problems that cut across these domains. This position resides
  in the Systems Engineering and Cybernetics Group in the Computational Sci
 ences & Engineering Division of the Computing & Computational Sciences Dir
 ectorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).\n\n \n\nMajor Duties/Res
 ponsibilities: \n\nDesign of novel method for the design of cyber-physical
  systems. \nContribute to the delivery of tools and technologies for the m
 odeling, simulation, and analysis of sophisticated systems\nCollaborate wi
 th a diverse set of domain experts to discover and solve novel problems at
  the intersections of research disciplines\nPublish research findings in h
 igh impact journals and conferences.\nSupport the development of research 
 proposals to the Department of Energy and other sponsors.\n \n\nBasic Qual
 ifications:\n\nA PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or o
 ther field relevant to the job duties.\nProven research experience in area
 s such as energy systems modeling, control systems, optimization, systems 
 analysis, and/or other areas related to the research objectives.\n \n\nPre
 ferred Qualifications:\n\nExcellent interpersonal skills for working withi
 n a highly diverse team, as well as strong oral and written communications
  skills, good organizational habits, and a high degree of personal motivat
 ion.\nExperience with the development and analyses of domain-specific mode
 ls\nA publication record in leading peer-reviewed resources.\nProven analy
 tical skills using Python, , C++ and/or other programming languages.\nExpe
