We are seeking a Postdocto ral Research Associate who will support the Quantum Communications and Net working Group with the Computational Science and Engineering Division (CSE D), Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate (CCSD) at Oak Ridge N ational Laboratory (ORNL).
< b>Major Duties/Responsibilities:
• Co
ntribute to new and ongoing research in optical/wireless communications, s
uch as wide area networks and 4G, 5G and sensor networking
• Inve
stigate new research solutions for classical networks such as developing n
ew AI/ML solutions for networks, extending low-level communication framewo
rks (e.g., UCX, Lifabrics) for sw/hw co-design, investigating smart NICs,
and investigating new developments in optical networks
• Investig
ate new research solutions in connecting optical and quantum networking
• Participate in new and ongoing research in quantum communications
, quantum networking, and quantum repeaters
• Contribute to nove
l quantum information solutions to problems of national interest and suppo
rt the research and development necessary for the practical implementation
of those solutions
• Interpret, report, and present research con
cepts and results to national audiences at all levels
• Write pee
r-reviewed papers and technical reports for internal and external release
and represent the organization by giving technical presentations in large
public forums

Applicants cannot ha ve received their Ph.D. more than five years prior to the date of applicat ion and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appoin tment. The appointment length will be for up to 24 months with the potenti al for extension. Initial appointments and extensions are subject to perfo rmance and the availability of funding.
