SUMMARY:Computational Research Scientist - 100428
DESCRIPTION:Computational Research Scientist - 100428\nDivision: AM-Applie
d Mathematics and Computational Research\n\nLawrence Berkeley National Lab
oratory’s (LBNL, https://www.lbl.gov/) Applied Mathematics and Computation
al Research Division (AMCR, https://crd.lbl.gov/divisions/amcr/) has an op
ening for a Computational Research Scientist to join the team.\n\nThe Cent
er for Computational Sciences and Engineering (CCSE) develops and applies
advanced computational methodologies to solve large-scale scientific and e
ngineering problems arising in DOE mission areas involving energy, environ
ment, and industrial technology. The primary focus of CCSE researchers is
on designing algorithms for multiscale, multiphysics problems described by
nonlinear systems of partial differential equations (PDE), and in develop
ing implementations of algorithms that target current and next-generation
massively parallel computational architectures. CCSE researchers work coll
aboratively with application scientists to develop state-of-the-art soluti
on methodologies in these fields.\n\nIn this exciting role, you will be re
sponsible for playing an active role in developing new numerical algorithm
s and high-performance computational modeling capabilities for solving mul
tiple types of partial differential equations with applications in ocean m
odeling and plasma modeling.\n\nWhat You Will Do:\n• Develop, implement, a
nd test numerical algorithms for oceanic flows and/or plasma applications.
\n• Play an active role in the code development, testing and optimization
of the ROMS-X code for regional ocean modeling.\n• Play an active role in
the code development, testing and optimization of the WarpX code for accel
erator and plasma physics.\n• Interact with researchers internal and exter
nal to LBL to explore and extend the applicability of new methodology.\n•
Work in a multidisciplinary team environment including mathematicians, com
 puter/computational scientists, and domain scientists.\n• Author peer-revi
ewed journal articles and contribute to research proposals.\n• Participate
in developing new funding initiatives as appropriate.\n\n
